Abstract

Normally, major calyces of each kidney unite to form a renal pelvis at renal sinus which in turn continues as a single ureter. However, there are very rare incidents of unilateral or bilateral double (duplicated) ureters. We are reporting one such rare case of duplication of abdominal part of right ureter. During routine dissection of the posterior abdominal wall of about 60-year-old male cadaver, double ureters arising from the right renal hilum was observed.  The two right ureters emerged from the upper and lower parts of the hilum of the right kidney. When traced downwards the ureters united with each other very close to the pelvic brim. Incomplete duplication of the ureter is relatively more common. However, it is essential to be aware of course and positions of such ureters before carrying out urological and surgical interventions associated with them.
