Pericarditis as a complication after minimally invasive repair of pectus excavatum

The complications were divided into early and late, minor and major. Early complications occurred immediately or in the first month after operative correction. Late complications occurred after the first month. We had several major and late complications. The rarest complication that has been described in the literature is pericarditis after surgery by Nuss method. Pericarditis occurred in 0.4% to 2% presented in the relevant literature[1.2] We diagnosed two cases of pericarditis six months after reconstructive treatment requiring pericardiocenthesis with antibiotics and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen in high doses. Both patients responded well to treatment and there was no need to prematurely removing tiles.
