NEW CONCEPT OF COCHLEAR IMPLANT

Abstract

Cochlear implant is the most sophisticated electronic device for hearing impairment. The aim of this work is to spread indication for C.I. implantation and stimulate discussion about this idea of “total implantâ€. It does not exist jet (or we don’t know) but I leave to engineers of electronic to asses technical possibilities to make a “hybrid†hearing device. Application could be available for patients after radical trepanation of temporal bone with serious hearing impairment (80-90 dB). This group of patients could nod expect nothing than to hear much better.The main point is how to use this postoperatively cavity for CI. Many of medical possibilities almost done. Moreover,many of electronic parts exist jet. For otosurgeons would be establish some questions. What we expect from deaf ear? Especially when ear have or had a pathological process? If some of parts of presentation could be in commercial use, what should be surgeon’s decision? Moreover in talk with many patients it discovered a simple human wish to repair his own impairment and make impairment invisible.
